King Charles I Character Jug

£150.00

Royal Doulton limited edition character jug of King Charles I.

Royal Doulton Character Jug, King Charles I. Three-handled D6917 (black, yellow and red coloration). Designed by William K. Harper. Series: Royalty, issued 1992 in limited edition of 2,500. Size: 7″H (Large).

This jug was issued in a limited edition of 2,500 to commemorate the 350th anniversary of the English Civil War in 1642. It is unusual in the sense that it is the first three-handled character jug ever produced by Doulton. On Charles’s left Oliver Cromwell forms the handle, on his right, Queen Henrietta. The third handle, at the King’s back, is a plume.
